The Music Business Specialization provides students with the knowledge and experience to gain employment in the exciting fields of the music entertainment industry. Students learn to be music businessmen and women, music arrangers, songwriters, producers and performers. In addition to music business and traditional academic music studies, these programs provide interdisciplinary training in computer based music production technologies, entertainment business strategies, and popular music performance. The commercial music field is where the greatest amount of music industry employment is to be found.
Today was an important day for me. I went up to HCC and changed my major to Music Business. I decided that I would like to earn an Associate's Degree in Music Business with a Specialization in Songwriting/Production. So far, I signed up for 3 courses: Music Business, Songwriting, & Music Fundamentals. I am so excited to see what happens!
So how did this come about? I was hanging out with a friend and she asked me a really interesting question. What is something that has stayed consistent in your life, regardless of setbacks and obstacles? What has stayed constant? The answer for me is MUSIC. I was scared to deal with that answer though. I have tried to pursue something in music before and it turned out to be a flop. I was scared to try again.
But now I am willing to try this again, and this time with the help of HCC! I'm looking forward to seeing how the classes go.
